Untitled, 9" x 12", ink on paper
My work explores memory, using simple ink drawings on a white background in a style inspired by the illustrations of Shel Silverstein. At first glance, these pieces may appear childish and easy, but beneath their simplicity lies an intentional technique and a deliberate attempt to capture the raw creativity and freedom of my childhood memories. Each illustration is an amalgamation of memories, blending real spaces with imagined memories, reflecting the way childhood blurs reality and fiction. This series serves as a love letter to the way I once saw the world, preserving not just images but the feeling of unrestrained creativity and wonder.

Faint Trails, 2” x 4”, Embroidery Floss
My piece utilizes the traditional embroidery practice of cross-stitch to interpret my memories of my sister. I was inspired by our old visit to the Cow and the Calf, an important monument from my father’s home. The composition mirrors the landscape—one larger rock leading, while a smaller one follows—symbolizing our dynamic as siblings. The pixelated quality of the cross-stitch shows the haziness of my recollections, reflecting how memories blur over time. Through this piece, I aim to capture and preserve a fleeting moment of sisterhood, honoring all my sister has done for me before it fades into the recesses of time.

Portrait in Porcelain, 6.5” x 8” colored pencil
My piece is a colored pencil portrait that captures a moment in time centered on my friend. It conveys her presence through the objects surrounding her sink, which I feel perfectly encapsulates her spirit and personality. Inspired by the portrayal of bedrooms and bathrooms in The Virgin Suicides, I wanted to explore in my own life how everyday spaces and personal objects can hold memories and reflect someone's essence. The items on her sink tell a story and examine the complexities of girlhood and the parts of ourselves we imbue into the spaces we inhabit.
